A 60-year-old man named Isak Wahab (pictured above) reportedly died from shock after a pal allegedly stole his ATM and withdrew N700,000 from his checking account.
The deceased’s spouse, Monsurat, accused his pal, recognized solely as Ola, of creating the withdrawal, which she stated led to the loss of life of her husband.
Monsurat stated Ola stole her husband’s ATM when he visited them at their residence within the Ikotun space of Lagos State, in response to Punch.
She stated: “Ola was a detailed pal to our household, significantly my husband. He had monetary difficulties along with his lease and he got here to my husband to inform him that he needed to promote his generator in order that he may elevate cash to pay his lease. My husband instructed him not to do this and stated he was anticipating fee from our tenants and he may assist. My husband then gave him N10,000.
“In the meantime, we didn’t know that Ola had taken my husband’s ATM card and he withdrew cash from it amounting to N700,000. He withdrew the cash in tranches of N200,000, N300,000 and one other N200,000.”
The deceased’s son, Ajibola, alleged that Ola stole his father’s ATM card after his father turned intoxicated whereas they drank alcohol collectively.
He stated the case was reported on the Ikotun Police Station for investigation, including that the suspect disappeared after he was accused of being answerable for the loss of life.
Ajibola stated: “Final week Thursday, my dad was not alright, however I felt it was simply abnormal malaria or a small sickness. However later, I used to be instructed that it was critical and I needed to name my siblings. We later learnt from our mom that our father was defrauded by Mr Ola.
“My father died on Friday and we buried him on Saturday. After his burial, we went to his pal’s home, confronted him and whereas arguing with him, we seized his cellphone. Since that day, we now have not seen him.
“As I converse to you, I’ve his cellphone with me and we now have reported the case on the Ikotun Police Station. He had points and wanted cash and our father promised to assist and gave him N10,000.
“Now, Mr Ola took our father’s ATM card, went to a PoS operator, and transferred about N700,000 from his account to different accounts. When our father noticed it, he was deeply unhappy and he died as a result of he by no means anticipated that his greatest pal would try this to him.”
